RBAI Health & Safety Workshop for County Council Officials - Dog Wardens & Pound Operatives


A one-day Training Workshop focusing on the Health & Safety (H&S) aspects associated with the work of County Council officials working with animals (Dog Wardens & Pound Operatives)


To enable senior management to:

  1. provide delegates with sector specific training on the Legal and Practical aspects of the H&S issues related to their everyday work situations 
  2. develop H&S plans for the "reasonably foreseeable" scenarios which arise in the course of daily work handling animals and dealing with the public

Course Outline

  • Introduction
  • H&S in General
  • H&S as it applies to animal handlers
  • Legislation & it’s implications
  • Workshop on:
    1. Hazard identification for “every day” work situations
    2. Risk Rating of identified Hazards
    3. Applicable Control Measures
  • Safety Statements, Local Authority H&S specific requirements & their application
  • Individual Local Authority specific issues (e.g. relevant documents, records or procedures)
